On the day of the Inauguration I was teaching a class and was not able to watch all of it. I feel bad that today was the first time I had a chance to sit down and watch the whole thing. As Olivia and I watched she jumped up and down in my arms with lots of energy. Every now and then she paused to just sit and watch Obama give his speech. Does she understand what is going on, probably not, but one day she will. She will get to grow up in a country when for the first time we as Americans know that our children really can grow up to become whatever they choose. I am honored and greatful to be able to witness this great time in history. I am thankful for the changes I have been able to witness. I am filled with emotion as I listen to Obamas speech. I am filled with hope for our country and our future. As a social worker I fight for equality and justice for all. I have a renewed sense of patriotism and I am proud to be an American!
